Canvas
These instructions are suitable for bags that are entirely made of canvas with no waxed canvas elements. If you're unsure if your bag contains waxed canvas elements, follow the waxed canvas care instructions just in case.
Canvas bags may be machine or hand-washed in COLD water using gentle detergent. Stains can be treated with a mild cleaning solution, such as dish soap or Dr. Bronner’s Castile soap, and a stiff-bristle brush. Do not bleach.
Reshape and lay flat to dry.
A hot iron may be used for pressing. Avoid touching the iron to zippers, straps, and other bag trim as those elements may contain synthetic materials that can't be ironed.
Waxed Canvas
These instructions are suitable for bags that contain waxed canvas elements. If you're not sure if your bag contains waxed canvas elements, follow these instructions.
Remove dirt from the surface of your bag with a lint-free cloth or brush.
Bags that have waxed canvas elements should only be spot-cleaned as necessary. Use a lint-free cloth or brush and a mild cleaning solution, such as dish soap or Dr. Bronner’s Castile soap. Always test a new cleaning method in an inconspicuous area, or you can reach out info@heyamyhey.com for specific advice.
Do not iron waxed canvas.
If your waxed canvas is showing scratches or other signs of wear that you'd like to smooth out, the wax may be reheated with a hairdryer. Turn your hairdryer on high and pass it back and forth across the waxed canvas at about 6" away from the fabric. Leave your bag to cool and the wax should look as good as new!
